DIY- detachable peter pan collar

Supplies:

Fabric- You don't need much at all so its great for using up scraps.

Iron on interfacing

Thread and a needle

Ribbon- About 60cm should be enough

Sewing Machine

Fabric flowers, beads, sequins or whatever else you want to embellish your collar with.

Instructions:

1. Cut out collar pattern, adding 1cm seam allowance. Pin the pattern on to the fabric and cut around it. Do this four times.

2. Cut off seam allowance from pattern, pin to interfacing and cut around four times.

3. Iron on piece of interfacing on to the wrong side of each bit of fabric. The bobbly side of the interfacing should face down on the fabric.

4. Sew on any embellishments to the front two pieces of the collar.

5. Pin the front and back of each side of the collar together with the wrong sides facing each other. Sew around the outside of the interfacing leaving a gap at the end where the ribbon will go. Cut a zig zag or little triangles on the fabric around the stitching.

6. Turn inside out using a paintbrush or something similar. 

7. Cut ribbon in two. Fold over the open edges and put the ribbon in. Iron in place. Carefully sew the end shut with the ribbon inside. Repeat this for the other side of the collar.

8. Sew the two sides of the collar together in the middle with a few discreet stitches. I put another fabric flower over the stitches but you could put a bead, jewel brooch or whatever there.

Et voilà!

feather earrings diy

I used:

Black feathers, Beads, Earring loops, Connectors, Jewellery making pliers, Thin wire, Chain

Thread one bead on to the wire and wrap the wire around the bead and secure at the top of the bead. Then add the chain, loop both ends of the chain over the top wire. Then add the second bead and wrap the rest of the wire around the top of the feather.

Close the connector over the part of the feather with the wire wrapped around it and connect the earring loop to the connector. And thats it!

friendship bracelet necklace

This layered friendship necklace caught my eye in Accessorize the other day and I knew straight away I was going to make my own version. 

I used embroidery threads, wool, beads, two large jump rings and a metal clasp. I used turquoise, yellow and pink thread and pink wool. Firstly measure the wool around your neck and cut to the correct length. I tied the end of the wool and about 40cm of thread together and tied them to the handle of a drawer. You then need to wrap the thread around the length of wool. I wrapped the other end of the thread around some card to make it easier. I wrapped the thread around the wool as far as I wanted it to go and then tied the thread and wool together again. I added in beads to the thread every so often and tied the thread to wool to secure. 

When you untie the wool from whatever you had it tied to it will twist around on itself, to stop it doing this and to help keep the thread in place, iron over the wool and thread.

I also plaited some of the thread and wrapped thin gold thread around pieces of wool to make some parts of the necklace. 

I sewed the ends of each strand together and then sewed them on to two large jump rings and attached a clasp.

isabel marant inspired bracelets

These Isabel Marant bracelets are gorgeous and so easy to wear, they go with everything. I made my version of these two bracelets in gold, aqua and pink.

To make the bracelets you will need:

Tassel bracelet- small beads, any suitable cord to thread the beads onto, a clasp, two crimps, three jump rings, one head pin, a strip of fabric (I used a light cotton but you could use pretty much any lightweight fabric), needle and thread and one bigger bead in a complimentary colour.

Cord bracelet- Pretty coloured cord about 30 cm, smalls beads and two bigger beads.

Start by putting a crimp on one end of the cord, then thread as many beads as you need to go round your wrist. Then add the second crimp and attach the clasp using the jump rings. 

To make the tassel I got a strip of white cotton about 20cm long and 1 cm wide. I folded it in half and then in half again until it was the size I wanted the tassel. Then thread the needle through the fabric, near the top, and wrap the thread around the fabric. Thread the needle back through the fabric to secure. At the other end of the tassel cut the fabric where it has been folded. Then sew the last jump ring the the top of the tassel. Put the bigger bead on the jump ring using the head pin. Put the pin through the bead and using small jewellery making pliers twist the metal into a loop and attach to the jump ring attached to the tassel and attach the jump ring to the bracelet.

For the second bracelet measure the cord around your wrist and double it. The picture below will hopefully show you how I tied it!

As the beads I had for this bracelet were quite small I actually sewed them on to the cord but if you have bigger ones you can thread them on the cord, just make sure you do it before you knot the bracelet. I tied knots on either side of the beads, on mine this just for decoration but if you are threading the beads on you will have to do this to keep them in place. I added two larger beads to left over bits of the knot.

 My finished bracelets with the two gold bangles I always wear, I think they go perfectly :)
